In celebration of our new Bookshelves section, I put together a list of 5 bookshelves that I recommend you check out.
My Bookshelf Recommendations
Treku Bookcase
I love how flexible and modular this bookshelf is. You can use either narrow or wide setups for variation and spacing and it can hold hundreds of pounds of stuff. A little pricey, but still a solid bookshelf system.
Cubits Backs Set of 2
Another expandable bookshelf system, these polypropylene shelves offer a solution that's modern and clean and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Lili Lite
Lili Lite is a reading light, a bookmark and a bookshelf combined into one smart product.
A sensor turns off the light when an open book is placed on the shelf. When the book is picked up again, the light automatically turns on. Lili Lite also has a switch to turn the light on and off manually.
IKEA Expedit BookCase
The tried and true bookshelf from IKEA. Be sure to check out IKEA Hacker for ideas on how to personalize this bookcase to your tastes.

The Container Store also offers translucent polypropylene shelves at a slightly lower price. They have different lengths shelves too:

I have to second Jeff’s vote for the modernica case study book shelf. it can hold a lot of books and looks pretty nice too. Although I guess it doesn’t fit into the affordable category.

I fully recommend the Modernica Case Study shelving, and the LAX Bookshelf from Mash Studios.

I can definitely vouch for EXPEDIT from Ikea. Awesome and affordable. You can also get a similar spine bookcase in orange and steel from CB2.
This bookcase also looks pretty rad: http:
